Important: This article is for users with both Demandbase One for Marketing and Demandbase One for Sales (DBS) licenses. Users with a DBS-only license should refer to Build and Manage Lists.
Building lists of companies and people in Demandbase One for Sales (DBS) allows you to find prospects that meet your ideal customer profile. The Unified List Builder uses account data from your CRM, CSV data import, and Demandbase.
You can create dynamic lists using dimensions, advanced filters, saved filters, an existing list, or by importing data.
You can also save filters, manage lists, and export data from the Unified List Builder page.
Prerequisites
You must have Admin privileges or be assigned to a permission set with the required Demandbase settings access.
Create a List using Filters
- From the left navigation bar, go to
Build a List.
- Select Accounts or People tab.
Tip: Going to these tabs only changes the view (accounts vs. people), but filters apply to both. - In the List Build tab, apply filters on the left using the following options:
- Saved Filters (see Save Filters)
- Advanced Filters (see Understanding Selectors)
- Dimensions (see Unified List Dimensions)
Tip: Click More Filters to see additional filters.
- Click Save List.
- Enter the following:
- Name: Name of list.
- Type: Dynamic (see Account Lists Types).

Visibility: Select who can view the list.
- Public: Visible to everyone in your company.
- Private: Visible only to the creator of the list and any Demandbase users with an Admin role.
- Folder Location:
- Existing folder: Click Select Folder, click a folder name, and click Add.
- New folder: Click create a new folder, enter a folder name, and click Create folder. Click Select Folder again and click the folder name you just created.
- Click Save.
Create a List using an Existing List
- From the left navigation bar, go to
Build a List.
- Click Start with a saved list and select an existing list.
- (Optional) Edit filters on the left as needed.
- Click Save List.
- Enter the following:
- Name: Name of list.
- Type: Dynamic (see Account Lists Types).

Visibility: Select who can view the list.
- Public: Visible to everyone in your company.
- Private: Visible only to the creator of the list and any Demandbase users with an Admin role.
- Folder Location:
- Existing folder: Click Select Folder, click a folder name, and click Add.
- New folder: Click create a new folder, enter a folder name, and click Create folder. Click Select Folder again and click the folder name you just created.
- Click Save.
Create a List by Importing Data
Important: You can overwrite existing imported data by re-importing an updated CSV file.
- From the left navigation bar, go to
Build a List.
- In the List Build tab, click Import a CSV list.
Step 1: Select List
- Select the object type (Account or People) you’re importing.
- Enter a name for the import.
- Upload a CSV list of accounts or people. See Import, Update, and Delete Account, Opportunity, People, and Activity Data from a CSV File.
Important:- In DBS, you can only import Account and People data.
- In DBS, you only see People records that are matched to an Account record.
- Click Next.
Step 2: Field Mapping
- Select the fields you want to import and map them to a field in Demandbase.
- Click Next.
Step 3: Review & Confirm
- Review the import job and click Import.
Once data is imported, you can see the List Upload Results and Match Report.
Tip: If there are unmatched records, we recommend re-uploading the data.
Save Filters
You can save filters to easily access them when building lists.
- From the left navigation bar, go to
Build a List.
- Select filters on the left.
- Click Save Filters.
- Enter the following:
- Name: Name of filter.

Visibility: Select who can view the list.
- Public: Visible to everyone in your company.
- Private: Visible only to the creator of the list and any Demandbase users with an Admin role.
- Click Save.
Manage Lists
Once a list is created, you can do the following with lists:
- Find lists
- Take Action with Lists
- Export data
Find Lists
To find a list, you can use the top List Type, Owner, Favorite, or Visibility filters.
You can also click the magnifying glass to search for a list.
Take Action with a List
- From the left navigation bar, go to
Build a List.
- Go to the Lists tab and hover over the list name.
- Click the Settings icon and select from the following:

Make Favorite: Make the list a favorite.
Tip:- Favorited lists appear at the top of the list table.
- You can also click the Make Favorite (heart) icon to favorite or unfavorite a list.
- Unfavorite: Remove the list as a favorite.

Make Public: Make the list available to all users.
Important: After you make a list public, you cannot make it private again. -
Delete: Delete the list.
Important: Demandbase requires you to confirm before deleting a list. - Add to Folder: Add the list to a specific folder. See Create and Manage Folders for Account, Person, and Opportunity Lists.

Make Favorite: Make the list a favorite.
Take Action with Multiple Lists
- From the left navigation bar, go to
Build a List.
- Go to the Lists tab and select the checkboxes for lists.
- Click Take Action and select from the following:

Make Favorite: Make lists as a favorite.
Tip: Favorited lists appear at the top of the list table. - Unfavorite: Remove lists as a favorite.

Make Public: Make lists available to all users.
Important: After you make a list public, you cannot make it private again. -
Delete: Delete lists.
Important: Demandbase requires you to confirm before deleting lists.
You can’t delete lists that are used in active ad campaigns. - Add to folder: Add lists to a specific folder. See Create and Manage Folders for Account, Person, and Opportunity Lists.

Make Favorite: Make lists as a favorite.
Export Data
Your credit limit determines the number of records you can export. See Understanding Export Credit Limits.
- From the left navigation bar, go to
Build a List.
- Go to the Lists tab and click a list name.
- Select the checkbox for one or more records.
- Click Take Action.
- Select from the following:
- Export to CRM: See Export Demandbase One for Sales Account and People Data to Your CRM.
- Export to CSV file and click Export.
