Context
With self-serve Advertising, you can upload many types of display creatives and landing page URLs directly to Demandbase One.
Important: Native and video creatives aren’t supported in the self-serve upload wizard of the Campaign Builder. You must submit them to your customer success manager (CSM).
There are two ways that you can upload supported creative types:
- On the Creative Library page of Demandbase Advertising
- In Step 5: Creatives of the Campaign Builder
Both pages include a +Upload Creatives button. Rather than select creatives one by one for upload, you’ll pick Ad Groups to place in your campaign.
The Advertising upload wizard allows you to submit ad assets in Excel or CSV files that link to creatives and landing pages. If you don’t have the ad assets in a tracking spreadsheet, Demandbase provides Excel templates in which you can place the links to creatives and landing page URLs. We strongly recommend that you prepare the assets in spreadsheet format and click the Excel + Creatives button when prompted for how to submit your ad.
If your campaign is relatively simple and you don’t want to use a spreadsheet to upload, you can submit non-spreadsheet files after clicking the Creatives only button. Be extra careful as this method of submission requires a lot of manual copy-and-paste of long URLs, which lends itself to confusion and entry errors.
Prerequisites/Preparation
Your creative assets and landing page information conform to Reference: Non-Personalized Ad Specifications. The article contains important information about what ad dimensions and file formats that we can accept.
If you plan to have your ad creatives hosted outside of Demandbase, the creative file format should be DoubleClick for Advertising (DFA), Flashtalking, or Sizmek.
Recommended preparation: To submit your ad assets with an Excel file that references your ad creatives and landing pages, see Uploading Advertising Creatives with an Excel File for how to prepare the spreadsheet and related files.
Steps
- You can upload creatives in two different places of Advertising:
a. If you aren't about to publish a campaign, the most direct route is to open the Creative Library in the left navigation pane and click +Upload Creatives.
b. If you’re in the Campaign Builder and close to finalizing your campaign, navigate to Step 5: Creatives and click +Upload Creatives. - If you have an Excel file for your ad assets (either sourced from your own spreadsheet or from the Demandbase template), upload the Excel file and if necessary the creatives as well:
a. Click Excel + Creatives.
b. In the Excel + Creative Upload window, do the following:
- Enter an Ad Group name for the creatives that you want to upload. (By default, Demandbase takes all the creatives uploaded at one time and puts them in an Ad Group. You can move any of the creatives to other Ad Groups after the upload.)
- Drag and drop your Excel spreadsheet and your creative files into the Browse field of the upload window.
- Click Submit. - If you want to upload only creative files, you upload the files and manually enter click URLs or landing pages in the upload wizard:
a. Click Creatives only.
b. In the Creatives only upload window, do the following:
- Enter an Ad Group name for the creatives that you want to upload. (By default, Demandbase takes all the creatives uploaded at one time and puts them in an Ad Group. You can move any of the creatives to other Ad Groups after the upload.)
- Drag and drop your creative files into the Browse field of the upload window. The upload wizard supports a maximum of 50 creative files in a single upload here.
c. If you want to associate a single click URL or landing page with all creatives to be uploaded:
- Enter the URL in the Click URL or Landing Page field below your creatives.
- Click Submit. (Ensure you enter a secure URL that starts with https.)
d. If you want to associate different click URLs or landing pages with the display images:
- Click Want to use a different URL for each creative? near the bottom of the window.
- Enter the URL for each creative size in the prompts that open for each creative.
- Click Submit.
