Create or Customize Slack Alerts for Website Visitors

Context

Slack alerts for website visitors sends near real-time information about who’s engaging with your website. See Understanding Snapshot Emails, Slack Alerts, Reports, and Subscriptions. 

Website visitor alerts are based on Demandbase auto-create account list settings and automatically delivered to account owners. To customize your alerts, see Steps: Customize Slack Alerts. 

If you want to reactivate alerts that were disabled or didn't have auto-create account list toggled on, you can manually create alerts. See Steps: Manually Create Slack Alerts.

Important: 

• Known web visitor information is available only if you have a Marketing Automation System (MAS) integrated.
• The alert details for known web visitors, including misspelled, incorrect, or missing names, is based on information from your integrated MAS.
• Demandbase can only send alerts to the Demandbase Slack channel. We can’t send alerts to public Slack channels.

Prerequisites/Preparation

Before proceeding, your Admin must complete the following:

• Set up the Slack integration.
• Enable Auto-create account list.

Once complete, you can add the Demandbase app in Slack. In Slack, scroll down to Apps, click +Add apps, search for and select Demandbase.

You must be logged in to Demandbase. 

Steps: Customize Slack Alerts

1. In Slack, go to Apps > Demandbase.
   Tip: To see the most recent alerts, click the new message notification.
   
   
2. To customize your alerts, click Preferences in any alert.
   
   Demandbase opens to the Edit Slack Alerts page, which shows the accounts you currently own.
   Tips: You can also access this page in Demandbase. From the left navigation bar, go to Settings > My Profile > My Subscriptions and click the Edit Subscription icon in the Actions column.
   
   
3. In the Manage account tab, include or exclude accounts by toggling them on or off from the Slack Alerts column. This allows you to focus on the accounts that matter most to you.
   Tip: You can use the Search field to find accounts or you can click through the pages.
   
4. In the Manage web pages tab, do the following to exclude web pages from alerts.
   • In the first field, select the operator that applies to the position of the URL string that you want to exclude: Contains, Begins With, or End With.
   • In the second field, select or enter part or all of the URL string or strings that you want to exclude. For example, enter careers to exclude career pages.
   • (Optional) To add more operators to exclude pages, click + Add More.
     
5. Click Save.

Outcome: Customize Slack Alerts

You can see your changes within the next few alerts.

If you don’t receive your alerts as expected, see if you have a subscription at Settings > My Profile > My Subscriptions. If your subscription is not set up, see Steps: Manually Create Slack Alerts.

Also, ask your Admin to enable Auto-create account list.

Steps: Manually Create Slack Alerts

1. From the left navigation bar, go to  Settings > My Profile > My Subscriptions.
2. Click Create Subscription.
3. In the Create New Subscription window, enter the following:
   • Channel: Select Slack.
   • Report: Enter Website Visitor Alerts.
   • List: Select the account list you want to receive alerts for.
     
   • Alert Suppression Interval: Select how often you want to receive alerts.
   • Start Date: Select when you want to start receiving alerts. Alerts are set to start Immediately by default.
   • End Date: Select when you want to stop receiving alerts. Alerts are set up to be Ongoing by default.
     
4. Click Save.

Outcome: Manually Create Slack Alerts
