Create and Manage Permission Sets

Context

You can use permission sets to provide users with view and edit access to different areas of Demandbase. Permission sets allow you to set up access for new users more quickly and to manage access for groups of users.

Prerequisites/Preparation

You must have Admin privileges or be assigned to a permission set with the required Demandbase settings access.

Steps: Create a Permission Set

  1. From the left navigation bar, go to Settings_N.png Settings > User Management > Permission Set.
  2. Click Create New Permission Set.
    In the Create New Permission Set window, enter a Name and Description
  3. (Optional) To copy an existing permission set, check Clone from Existing and select the permission set from the drop-down list.
  4. Click Create.

Steps: Configure Access Levels for a Permission Set

  1. From the left navigation bar, go to Settings_N.png Settings > User Management > Permission Set.
  2. Click the name of a permission set in the Permission Set Name column.
  3. Click the Configuration tab and click the tab for a Demandbase area.
    a. Select one of the available access levels for the area.
    Full Access
    - No Access
    Limited Access
    b. If you selected Limited Access, select the sub-sections that can be accessed.
    Tips:
    - For sub-sections with View Only or Can Edit options, select Can Edit to give users view and edit access. For view only access, select the View Only option. Selecting both the View Only and Can Edit options gives users view and edit access.
    - For sub-sections with multiple Can Edit options (Can Edit All and Can Edit Some), select Can Edit Some to allow users to only edit public items or items they created.
    - For areas with the Export Data option, select it to allow users to export data from tables in that area.
    - For areas with the Take Action option, select it to allow users to access the Take Action options in that area.

  4. Repeat step 3 for each area.
  5. Click Publish.
  6. In the Publish changes window, select the checkbox to confirm the change and click Publish.

Steps: Assign Users to a Permission Set

  1. From the left navigation bar, go to Settings_N.png Settings > User Management > Permission Set.
  2. Click the name of a permission set in the Permission Set Name column.
  3. Click Assign Users.
  4. In the Assign Users to New Permission Set window, select one or more users in the left menu and click the right arrow icon.
    Tip: To remove a user, select them and click the left arrow icon.

  5. Click Save.
    Tip: To remove users from a permission set, click the Delete icon Delete_User_Permission_Set.png in the table row.

Steps: Delete a Permission Set

  1. From the left navigation bar, go to Settings_N.png Settings > User Management > Permission Set.
  2. In the Permission Set table, click the Delete icon Delete_User_Permission_Set.png in the Action column for the permission set.

  3. In the Delete permission set window, select the checkbox to confirm the change and click Delete.
    Demandbase deletes the permission set and assigns users that are not assigned to any other permission sets to the General permission set.
