Add UTM Parameters to Landing Page URLs

  • Updated

A landing page URL directs users to the webpage they reach after clicking an ad placed through Demandbase Advertising. To track campaign progress, associate your ads with landing page URLs that include unique Urchin Tracking Module (UTM) parameters. See UTM Parameters to Use in Landing Page URLs.

The following example shows a landing page URL with a UTM parameter appended to the end:

http://www.acme.com/product_page/?utm_source=google

Understand How UTM Parameters Track Campaign Traffic

UTM parameters identify how users arrive at a landing page and the online context in which they click the landing page URL. Google Analytics collects data from clicks on URLs with UTM parameters and reports metrics such as website traffic from:

  • Banner ads
  • Other webpages that you host
  • Search results
  • Social media

You can also include a campaign parameter in the URL to associate ad clicks with a specific campaign.

When you run multiple online marketing campaigns through Demandbase, traffic may come from multiple vendors and content sources. If search, ad words, Demandbase, or Google all direct traffic to the same landing page, it can be difficult to determine which campaign is most effective at reaching target accounts. UTM parameters help you distinguish between these traffic sources and campaigns.
