Context
Demandbase provides Journey Stages for you to use out-of-the-box. From the Account Journey Builder, you can edit and publish changes to Journey Stages. The Account Journey Builder opens to read-only mode by default, so you can review each Journey Stage and its Selector criteria.
For guidelines to consider when you set up your Journey Stages, see Best Practices for Customizing the Account Journey.
There are several ways you can edit Journey Stages. You can:
Editing Journey Stages can impact Journey Analytics and other Demandbase functionality. Therefore, you should consider the ramifications of changing Journey Stage criteria after you've had the Journey up-and-running.
To watch a video about Journey Stages, see Working with Journey Stages (Video).
Important:
After you change Stages related to Marketing Qualified Account (MQA), Pipeline, or Customer activity, you might need to reset the benchmarks that affect dashboards and reports in Demandbase. See Designate Benchmark Journey Stages.
Tips:
- You can't edit the Selector logic of the All Other stage. Accounts that don't meet the criteria for any other Journey Stage fall into this category. If we allowed Selector criteria for All Other, your edits could potentially block accounts from being placed in this Stage
- Perform minor tweaks (for example, changing the threshold for becoming MQA) to Journey Stage selectors as needed—on average, once per quarter. Don't rebuild journey history after minor tweaks.
- Only add Journey Stages when it's necessary. You want the Journey Stages to be broad enough so that they track key milestones and aren't so detailed with nuances that make it difficult to recognize the transitions.
- Perform major rework of Journey Stages rarely—maybe once every two years. Do Journey Stage rework in conjunction with a re-examination of how prospects and customers are segmented when going to market. Rebuild journey history if a significant change in the meanings of Stages has occurred. (See Rebuild Account Journey History.)
