Demandbase uses the Title field for a Contact or Lead in Salesforce to help determine their department and role.
Department Mapping
The following table shows the department that Demandbase maps people to based on words in the Title field. The words in the title are not case-sensitive.
Important: If a Contact or Lead has a department value from your CRM or Marketing Automation System, Demandbase uses the value instead of the default department mapping. This may result in additional departments appearing in Demandbase.

Role Mapping
The following table shows the rules Demandbase uses to map people to a role based on words in the Title field. Once a match is found, Demandbase stops trying to find additional matches. The words in the title are not case-sensitive.

Review Departments and Roles
You can see the mapped department and roles from the People page in the Analytics section. The People Heatmap shows a breakdown of the department and role of people associated with accounts in an account list
Tip: Ensure the Department / Role preset option is selected from the drop-down list.
The Department and Role columns in the People table show the department and role mapped to people’s titles.
Tip: If you don’t see the columns, click Edit Columns at the bottom of the table to add them.
Find People in Other Departments or Roles
To find people in departments or roles that Demandbase doesn’t map to, use one of the following methods:
- Create a person filter to search for people with the departments or role in their title. See Create and Save Filters.
- Create a segment for people with the departments or role in their title. See Create Segments.
- Use one of your department or role fields in the People Heatmap by clicking Custom and selecting it from the Row or Column drop-down lists.
