You can securely upload CSV files to Demandbase-managed Amazon S3. Demandbase automatically ingests the uploaded files and creates corresponding data import records in the Database.
Cloud uploads simplify importing large datasets without splitting files into smaller files or using the Demandbase API.
Important: Each CSV file must be 20 GB or smaller.

Outcome of Uploading CSV Files from Amazon S3 to Demandbase
CSV File Upload Status
After uploading a CSV file, check its status in Amazon S3.
- Succeeded: The file was uploaded successfully. The Files and folders table shows details such as the file name, type, and size.
- Failed: The file couldn't be uploaded. Review the error message to identify the issue.
Common reasons for failed uploads include:
- File exceeds the 20 GB size limit.
- File isn't in CSV format (.csv).
- Network interruption during upload.
- Expired temporary AWS credentials when using the AWS CLI or SDK.
Important: A successful upload to Amazon S3 doesn't guarantee successful ingestion into Demandbase. Check the data import status in Demandbase to confirm that the file was processed.
CSV Data Ingestion Status
After a successful upload, Demandbase automatically locks the file and begins ingestion.
To check the ingestion status:
- From the left navigation bar, go to Database > [Object] > Data Import.
- Find the import record associated with your uploaded file.
- Review the import status.
Demandbase labels each import using the file name and a timestamp in 24-hour UTC format. For example, account-import-crm-2025-09-15-1648.
Successful Ingestion
If the CSV file meets Demandbase's formatting requirements, Demandbase processes the data and creates a data import record.
After successful ingestion, you can:
Access imported data: Data becomes available according to the schedules described in Understanding Demandbase Data Availability.
Review matched records: Click View Audit CSV to review the import results. Understanding CSV Data Import Results.
Review field-level data: From the left navigation bar, go to
Settings > Analytics > Fields.
Failed Ingestion
If the CSV file doesn't meet Demandbase's formatting requirements, ingestion fails even if the upload to Amazon S3 succeeded.
In this case:
- Amazon S3: Shows a Succeeded upload status.
- Demandbase: Shows a Failed data import status.
Common reasons for failed ingestion include:
- Missing required column headers.
- Invalid field values, such as incorrect formats or mismatched data types.
To resolve the issue, correct the CSV formatting errors and upload the file again.
