Reference: Personalized Ad Specifications

  • Updated

Demandbase offers creative services to enhance the design and messaging of the ad assets that you submit for Advertising Cloud campaigns. If you want to add a layer of customization geared toward a targeted account, we can deliver personalized HTML ad banners in ad impressions using a variety of supported file types and media. We can even personalize your animated HTML files.

Consult with your customer success manager (CSM) or advertising campaign strategist (ACS) as to what attribute of the account to highlight in a personalized ad, such as company or industry name. This article provides important specifications to follow as you prepare the ad assets for your ACS.

See the blog post 4 Best Practices for Dynamic Personalization in B2B Advertising for strategies that can boost the impact of your personalized ads.

Important: Verify that your company hasn't used up license-term or purchased entitlement to personalized ad support before preparing and submitting the assets as described in this article. If you aren’t entitled to personalized ad resources, see Reference: Non-Personalized Ad Specifications.

Review the following specifications, including the Restrictions on Ad Submissions section, to learn how to design creatives for banner ads in your Demandbase campaigns:

Specifications When You Supply Animated Ads for Personalization

Supported file types: Adobe Animate CC (.FLA files) or animated .HTML files. Note that we don’t accept After Effects or video files for personalized ads.

Layout: Provide the sizes for each ad that you request.

Personalization placeholder: Include a minimum 30-character placeholder for your personalization, such as {Example Company name goes here}.

Personalization text:

  • Text must be live text or “dynamic,” not static or image.
  • Adobe Animate files only support 1 font and 1 font style for the personalization text field.

Timing parameters:

  • If personalization is on the first frame of your ads, include a 1-second pause before the text appears to allow time for our API to populate the personalization field.
  • Animation must stop after 15 seconds.

Supported ad dimension sizes (your submission doesn’t need to include all these sizes):

  • 300 x 250
  • 160 x 600
  • 728 x 90
  • 300 x 600
  • 970 x 250
  • 320 x 50
  • 300 x 50

Maximum file weight: 500 KB per ad when all published files for 1 dimension are archived into one ZIP file.

Tip: If you use a third-party ad server for ad impressions, you can rotate multiple sets of creative through a single placement tag. Notify your Demandbase team if you do this so we can test and approve each of your creatives and landing pages.

Restrictions on Ad Submissions

  • Use HTTPS, not HTTP. Ensure that your tracking server uses the HTTPS protocol, and that any internal redirects you’ve set up at your end use HTTPS.
  • No unapproved tracking or data collection pixels may be included in any ad creative without approval from Demandbase, prior to the Insertion Order.
  • No fourth-party pixels allowed in the ad tags, including DoubleVerify, Rubicon, Marketo, BlueKai, and Xaxis.
  • No data collection with ad tags. Due to ad exchange and publisher regulations, we don’t allow data collection via the ad tags. If you add fourth-party pixels at launch or anytime during the ad campaign, we’ll discontinue the creative and the campaign will be paused. This is strictly enforced by the ad exchanges.
  • No one-page redirects. Any redirect mechanism that uses an on-page method, like a JavaScript redirect, won’t work. If you use any such redirection mechanisms in your tracking redirect chain, you’ll need to change these mechanisms.

What to Expect After Creative Set Submission

Important: Although we attempt to match your existing creative as closely as possible, allow for some slight variation in layout, animation, and text length.

  • Turn-around time for personalized banner preview is 3 to 5 business days. Multiple sets can take longer.
  • Allow at least 48 hours between final approvals and actual launch date for testing purposes.
  • Once your ad is published, the AdChoices icon link will be overlaid in the upper right corner of the ad. The following screenshot is an example of an ad with an AdChoices link.
