Understanding Prediction Performance

  • Updated

Prediction Performance gives you a clear, data-driven view into how well the Demandbase Pipeline Predict Score model is working. It measures how accurately the model’s Highly Likely, Likely, and Unlikely scores correspond to actual opportunity creation.

By validating how often predicted outcomes become real opportunities, this feature helps you build confidence in our predictions and strengthen your sales strategy.

The most actionable insights come from comparing the "extreme" scores, Highly Likely vs. Unlikely. This comparison offers a clear look at how reliably the model distinguishes between high and low converting accounts.

Important: To ensure optimal performance and accuracy, it's critical that your Opportunity data remains current. The best practice to achieve this is to integrate with a CRM. If you do not have a CRM integration, you must manually import Opportunity data every day.

How Is Prediction Performance Calculated?

Prediction Performance is designed to be transparent and timely.

  • Calculation methodology: The model evaluates Pipeline Predict Scores assigned to all accounts 30 days prior. It then checks which of those accounts have actually opened new opportunities within that 30 day period.
  • Data updated daily: The data is refreshed daily, showing the percentage of accounts labeled as Highly Likely, Likely, or Unlikely that created opportunities within the past 30 days.
  • Pause after model retraining: The Pipeline Predict model is retrained every 90 days to improve accuracy. After each retraining, Prediction Performance pauses updates for 30 days and displays the last calculation date. This pause ensures the data remains consistent during the re-training.

Access Prediction Performance Data

From the Account List Dashboard, go to the Accounts section > Pipeline Predict tab > Check it out here link. See Understanding the Account List Dashboard.

Important: If you don’t see Prediction Performance data, check the following:

  • Insufficient lookback period: If you trained a Pipeline Predict Score model, Prediction Performance cannot be calculated until 30 days have passed since the last training.
  • Incorrect score model selected: In the Pipeline Predict score model filter (within the Account List Dashboard), you selected Top Scores (overall), which aggregates multiple models and does not include a Pipeline Predict score. Select a different Pipeline Predict score model instead.
