People Ingestion Control for Marketo

People Ingestion Control for Marketo lets you control which Marketo people records (Leads and Contacts) are synced to Demandbase. Using Marketo Dynamic Smart Lists as a filter helps ensure that only the people relevant to your business are included.

When you create a Smart List in Marketo and select it as the ingestion filter, only the people records included in that Smart List are synced to Demandbase.

Benefits of Using People Ingestion Control for Marketo

Some benefits of filtering Marketo people include:

• Use Marketo Smart Lists to sync specific people from Marketo.
• Reduce the overall number of people being synced into Demandbase. 
• Remove duplicate people from Demandbase.

Important: 

• You can only filter by the people object. All activities and campaigns related to the people are also synced into Demandbase. 
• You can only create one filter rule. 
• You can only apply one Smart List.
• Demandbase does not write back data to Marketo.

Prerequisites

• You must have Admin privileges or be assigned to a permission set with the required Demandbase settings access and Marketo.
• The Smart Lists and records must be visible to the Demandbase-Marketo integration user.
• In Marketo, enable the Bulk Activity Extract REST API feature. See Marketo’s article on Bulk Extract.

Create a People Ingestion Filter for New Marketo Integration

1. Integrate Marketo and Demandbase.
2. In the Marketo Setup Wizard, go to Step 3: Record Ingestion tab.
3. Enter the Smart List name, or scroll until you see it, then select it from the drop-down.
   Important: You can only apply one Smart List.
   
4. Click Confirm.

Create a People Ingestion Filter for Existing Marketo Integration

1. In the left navigation bar, go to Settings > Integrated Systems > Integrations.

2. Click Marketo. 
3. In the Filtering Rules section, click Create Filtering Rules.
4. Enter the Smart List name, or scroll until you see it, then select it from the drop-down.
   Important: You can only apply one Smart List.
   
5. Click Confirm.
6. In the confirmation pop-up window, click Proceed. 
   Important: It can take up to 48 hours for the filter to process. Once processed, you can only see the people and related objects that meet the ingestion filter criteria.

Edit an Existing People Ingestion Filter

1. In the left navigation bar, go to Settings > Integrated Systems > Integrations.

2. Click Marketo. 
3. In the Filtering Rules section, click Edit. 
4. Enter the Smart List name, or scroll until you see it, then select it from the drop-down.
   Important: You can only apply one Smart List.
   
5. Click Confirm.
6. In the confirmation pop-up window, click Proceed. 
   Important: Once you save the filter, it can take up to 48 hours before Demandbase stops syncing data from the restricted people and related objects. After Demandbase stops syncing the data, it can take up to one week before you only see the people and related objects that meet the filter criteria. 

Delete an Existing People Ingestion Filter 

1. In the left navigation bar, go to Settings > Integrated Systems > Integrations.
2. Click Marketo.
3. In the Filtering Rules section, click Edit.
4. Click the trash icon.
5. In the confirmation pop-up window, click Proceed.
   Important: Once you delete the filter, you can see all people, related objects, and historical data again. It can take up to one week for the filter to be deleted.
