Getting Started
Begin by aligning a small group of Sales and Marketing stakeholders on how to assign Engagement Points. This alignment is essential for using engagement data in processes like account prioritization and identifying MQAs.
Configure Engagement Points during onboarding and review them semi-annually to ensure accuracy.
Understand Engagement Point Categories and Types
See Understanding Engagement Point Categories and Activity Types. Select the Engagement Point Categories and Activity Types on the Engagement Points page.
To access the page, from the left navigation bar, go to Settings > Analytics > Engagement Points.
Everything is Additive
If an item meets multiple conditions, the Engagement Points for that particular activity is additive. Avoid assigning duplicate Engagement Points. The following is an example of Engagement Points for Page Visits:
Activity Type |
Selector |
Item |
Engagement Points Assigned |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visit Web Page (Known) | Does not contain | Unsubscribe | 1 |
| Visit Web Page (Known) | Contains | /features | 2 |
| Visit Web Page (Known) | Contains | demandbase.com/solutions | 4 |
Based on the example:
- Any page that contains "unsubscribe" in the URL gets 0 points.
- Any page not containing “unsubscribe” gets 1 point (still from the first rule).
- Any page that contains "/features" gets an additional 2 points (3 total).
- Any page that contains "demandbase.com/solutions" gets an additional 4 points (5 total).
Engagement Points Update Retroactively
When you update Engagement Points, Demandbase retroactively applies the new rules to past activities, based on the configuration defined on the Engagement Points page.
