Budget Rollover Option

  • Updated

Overview

When you set up a new campaign and select the Monthly Campaign type in Step 2: Budget & Schedule, and then select the Budget Rollover option, any unspent budget for the associated campaign will be added to the next month’s budget goal. This option helps you evenly pace your campaigns by month and better manage your campaign budgets.

Example

  • Monthly budget = $7,000 and runs for 3 months.
  • In month 1, the campaign spent $6,531, leaving an under spent budget of $469. This amount will then be added to month 2’s budget goal, changing it from $7,000 to $7,469.  The campaign will continue to rollover under spent budget until the budget is spent or campaign end.

FAQs

Q: If my rolled over budget from month 1 is not delivered in month 2, will it be rolled over to month 3?

A: Yes, your rollover budget will continue to rollover until the budget is spent or the campaign ends.

Q: If I do not select Budget Rollover and my monthly budget isn’t met, what happens?

A: If your campaign does not deliver to the full monthly budget, you will only be charged for the actual impressions served.

Q: If I have selected Budget Rollover and I change my monthly budget after the 1st of the month, how does Demandbase handle it?

A: If you increase or decrease your monthly budget, but have also selected Budget Rollover, the rollover budget from the month prior will be calculated into your current month’s budget.

Example:

  • A $2,000 monthly budget for 4 month campaign with rollover and a budget reduction in month 3.
  • During month 2 only $1,691 was spent, leaving a rollover budget for month 3 of $309. This amount will then be added to month 3’s budget goal, changing it from $2,000 to $2,309.
  • In month 3, the monthly budget is reduced to $1,000. Then the rollover budget will be added to this new budget, totaling $1,309 for month 3.

Q: I’ve launched monthly budgeted campaign but would like to uncheck Budget Rollover. Is that possible?
