Overview
The Audiences page allows you to build, manage and measure the performance of your account lists. You can:
- View intent insights for accounts across the entire platform.
- Filter any audience by firmographic, behavioral or intent data.
- Use audience-level statistics to drive territory-planning and resource allocation.
- View ABM Analytics to understand audience performance for your sales and marketing funnel.
Each audience might include accounts tied to a specific campaign or initiative, accounts in a particular vertical or company size, or it might be a broader list of target accounts that you are interested in driving through the funnel.

This video provides you with an overview of the audience insights that the ABM Platform can surface about your target accounts.
Modify Audiences
There are several features available that allow you to modify your audiences in the ABM Platform including:
- Rename, Delete or Re-upload an Audience
- Add or Hide Accounts from an Audience
Rename, Delete, or Re-upload an Audience
You can rename and delete an audience by clicking the Cog wheel icon next to the audience name and selecting Rename or Delete from the menu list. If this audience was created via CSV file upload, you can also re-upload an audience by clicking Re-upload audience. You may want to re-upload an audience list via CSV if you are using an audience for targeting (or other methods) and you want to change the makeup of an audience list (or the custom attributes associated with accounts in the list) but do not want to change the audience name or disrupt the audience link to a targeting campaign.
Add Accounts to an Audience
You can add accounts to an audience by selecting accounts from an existing audience or uploading new accounts via CSV. This eliminates the need to manually reload an audience to make small changes. To do this:
- In the Actions menu, click Add Accounts.
- Select if you want to add accounts by uploading a CSV file or add accounts from an existing audience.
- Click Add Accounts.
Hide Accounts From an Audience
You can hide (remove) accounts in a specific audience by selecting accounts you want to hide and then clicking Hide Selected Accounts in the Actions menu.
Regenerate an Audience
Once you create a profile and attach it to an audience in the Demandbase ABM Platform, the profile will affect the data for the audience. When you make changes to a profile, you also need to regenerate each audience that is connected to that profile in order for your changes to be reflected in the audiences. Click here to learn more about the steps for regenerating an audience.
Targeted Audiences
When looking at a list of audiences in the ABM Platform, there will be an orange targeting icon that denotes whether an audience is being used in an active campaign. If you hover over the icon, you will see the list of campaigns that the audience is a part of. If an audience is being targeted, it cannot be deleted or renamed, and the audit report will not be accessible. However, you can and add and hide accounts from the audiences.
Audience Statistics
For each audience, you can see aggregate statistics for all of the related accounts. There are top-level statistics on the total number of accounts, how many have visited or engaged on the website, and the total number of page views. Click the arrow next to each audience to see more detailed web activity for this audience.
Audience Filters
You can use the filters on the Audiences page to search for:
- A specific audience or account.
- A specific profile.
- The date the audience was created.
- The person who created the audience.
- The audience source.
Audience-Level Tabs
ABM Analytics Tab
On the ABM Analytics tab, you can see a complete view of your marketing performance with data from across the sales and marketing funnel. Put that performance in context by comparing any two audiences to measure their relative progression rates through the funnel.
- Click the Show Control Group Accounts checkbox to show the comparison audience metrics. The Control Group Audience is automatically populated with accounts that closely resemble the ones in the primary audience - based on industry, size, and web domain suffix. If you have integrated your CRM into the Demandbase ABM Platform, then the Control Group accounts will be sampled from your CRM accounts.
- If you want to compare this audience to a different audience, click Compare to a Different Audience button to take you to the ABM Analytics page where you can select a different comparison audience.
Website Activity Tab
On the Website Activity tab, you can view website activity for each audience including: total sessions and page views, the last time a user from that audience was on your site, and how this activity has changed over time. You can also see which specific content is being consumed by accounts in this audience.
Customize Definition for Sessions
You have the option to customize the definition for Sessions on the Website Activity tab by using the Account Engagement Filter feature. To access this feature:
- In the ABM Platform, click the Cog Wheel icon located in the top right menu bar.
- Click Settings.
- In the Settings navigation area, click Data Customizations.
- Click the arrow to open the Account Engagement section.
- Customize your Account Engagement definition.
- Click Save.
Firmographics Tab
On the Firmographics tab, you can view account traffic ranked by industry, revenue and employee size. This gives you a top-level view of account engagement by vertical that you can use for further granularity in your segmentation. Especially if this list is generated by Account Selection, you’ll want to understand more about the makeup of the audience. What kinds of industries are in it? What revenue ranges or employee sizes? All this information helps you to make decisions about how best to market to this audience.
Account Location Tab
On the Account Location tab, you can see where your accounts are concentrated, and build your marketing and sales territories around those areas that are most densely populated with your highest value accounts.
Ranked List of Accounts
From the Audiences page, click an audience name to see a ranked list of accounts for the audience.
Using the ranked list of accounts you can:
- View your entire list of target accounts or filter into segmented audiences.
- Sort accounts based on your specific needs.
- Refresh data and insight when you choose to refresh.
- Expand the account tabs to uncover more details on each account.
Working with Custom Attributes
Custom Attributes are first party attributes provided by a customer that can be used in the ABM Platform to filter, segment, and create sub-audiences. They are ingested into the ABM Platform during the audience creation process. When creating an audience via File Upload or CRM, any fields included in your source file that are not recognized as Account Name or Domain will be identified as Custom Attributes and pulled into the ABM Platform.
Note:
Custom Attributes are tied to an Account not an Audience. If a Custom Attribute is appended to Account A during the creation of Audience 1, this Custom Attribute will also be tied to Account A if it is in a different Audience, say Audience 2.
Location
Custom Attribute functionality can be accessed by navigating to the Audience list, and clicking in to a specific audience.
Functionality
You can filter on Custom Attributes using the Custom Attribute filter located in the left hand filter section in the Audience view. Custom Attributes with too many unique values will not be filterable due to performance constraints (for example, Salesforce ID).
Working with the Account Stage Filter
The Account Stage Filter allows you to segment accounts in a given audience by their stage in the funnel, enabling them to identify accounts which have taken certain actions such as Engaged on their Website, or have progressed in the funnel and turned into Opportunities.
Location
The Account Stage filter can be accessed by navigating to the Audience list, and clicking in to a specific audience. This filter is available on the left hand filter list.
Functionality
This filter provides multiple levels of segmentation by offering AND/OR configuration, not only allowing user to view accounts in a given account stage, but also enabling them to segment an audience by accounts who have NOT progressed to a certain account stage, or who have been in one stage but not another. For example, a user could apply a filter to view all accounts that have Engaged on Website, but have NOT Converted on Website.
Reviewing Account Details
You can review specific details about each account including: Why This Account, Website Activity, Intent, Account Stages, and Custom Attributes by clicking the blue arrow next to each account. Reviewing the account details on each of these tabs allows you to create relevant conversations with your most important accounts.
Why This Account
The Why This Account tab gives you visibility into this account's industry, similarity to existing customers, related products and services and active user roles.
Website Activity
The Website Activity tab provides you with insights on how an account is engaging on your website including: unique sessions in the last 30 days, number of page views in the last 30 days, how many days since the last visit, change in traffic over time, and URLs of top pages viewed.
Intent
The Intent tab shows the keywords from your profile being researched from employees at this account the last 12 months.
Account Stages
The Account Stages tab gives you the ability to filter a set of accounts for any audience by account stage allowing you to easily identify funnel drop-off, which empowers you to make more educated targeting and engagement decisions.
Custom Attributes
Custom Attributes can be viewed on the Account level by navigating to the Custom Attributes tab. This tab contains a table with the Attribute Name and Value for all Custom Attributes tied to this account. You can click the Manage Custom Attributes button to access the the Custom Attributes Management page which allows you to complete tasks such as editing/deleting custom attributes.
