Site Optimization Set Up

Overview

After kicking off your Site Optimization implementation with your Project Manager and Customer Success Manager, follow the steps below to configure the Site Optimization solution.

Prerequisites

Make sure you set up Domain Whitelisting here. Domain Whitelisting allows you to enter and modify domains or subdomains to be accessible for preview in Site Optimization. 

Steps

1. Define the Display Options

1.1. Log in to the ABM Platform at https://app.demandbase.com and log in with your Demandbase credentials.

1.2. Navigate to Engagement > Site Optimization.

1.3. On the Display Options page select a window display option. Demandbase.com uses the flyover view if you want to see it in action.

1.4. Select which pages to show the site optimization on: either all pages (recommended) or a custom set of pages.

1.5. Click Save and Continue.

2. Define the Recommendation Options

2.1. On the Recommendation Options page add the pages you consider highly valuable or those tied to conversion goals.

2.2. Add your blacklist pages, which are the pages or directories you do not want included as recommended content. For example, a career page.

2.3. Click Save and Continue.

NOTE: This area of the settings is NOT where you select which pages Site Optimization appears on. That can be found in the previous step.

 3. Customize Colors and Fonts

3.1. From the Preview page, select the background window color, font, and font color to be used from the available options. You can enter exact Hex or RGBA values, or select from a color picker.

3.2. Select whether to show the visiting Company's logo (we recommend showing it).

3.3. Add custom CSS if you would like to configure custom window behaviors.

3.4. Make sure to click Apply AND to click Save at the bottom of the Preview page

4. Set Additional Options

To access Site Optimization additional configuration options, navigate to Engagement > Site Optimization > Preview > View additional configurations.

4.1. Choose whether or not to send Events through to Google Analytics (recommended).

4.2. If there is a custom tracker name or more than one Google Analytics property on your website, then enter the Google Analytics tracker name to send event data to. Demandbase by default sends data to one tracker. If there are multiple on a page, this must be defined for Demandbase to send event data to the correct property. If a tracker name is not defined, then data will be sent to the default/first tracker name on the page.

4.3. Opt to have the recommended content window open or closed by default.

4.4. Change the text displayed in the opened window.

4.5. Choose to force http when https is unavailable.

4.6. Select whether or not to show the visiting company's name in the open window.

4.7. Change the text displayed in the closed window.

4.8. Set a delayed load for the window. 

4.9. Set a fade in transition for the window.

4.10. Add a ripple animation to the window load.

4.11. Choose whether to hide the window until the visitor begins to scroll through the page.

4.12. Opt to include an indicator arrow next to the recommended content.

4.13. Make sure to click Apply AND to click Save at the bottom of the Preview page.

5. Edit Recommendations

5.1. Review the full list of all possible recommendations that will be made in the Site Optimization window to ensure that the links are working and relevant.

5.2. Blacklist any links that should be excluded by copying the URL or directory name and creating a new blacklist rule in the Recommendation Options section.

5.3. Edit any items to change Page Titles and select alternate Image URLs (Make sure to Save within the Edit window).

5.4. Use the Back to Preview button at the top of the page to go back to the main Preview page AND click Save at the bottom of the Preview page.

6. Test the Configuration

6.1. Test the Site Optimization window behavior by interacting with it in the Preview pane.

6.2. Ensure the window works on other site pages by changing the URL to Preview.

6.3. Validate that the recommendations are dynamic by opting to Simulate traffic from one of these Companies.

6.4. Make any configuration changes needed based on testing results.

7. Save & Publish 

7.1. When ready to deploy to the live site, click the Save & Publish button at the bottom of the Preview section. Site Optimization will then go live, usually within moments!

7.2. Once deployed, a confirmation message will appear at the top of the Preview page.

Tip

Removing the deployment is as easy as clicking the Unpublish button in this window.
