Site Optimization Configuration Instructions


After kicking off your Site Optimization implementation with your Project Manager and Customer Success Manager, follow the below steps to configure the Site Optimization solution.

1. Visit

  • Login with your Demandbase credentials
  • Navigate to Engagement > Personalization > Site Optimization: Manage Settings



2. Define the Display Options

  • Select the Window Display - Bottom Banner, List View, Flyover View, Right Rail ( uses the flyover view if you want to see it in action)
  • Select the Display Pages - Show it on all pages (recommended) or input a list of specific pages for display
  • Make sure to click Save and Continue



3. Define the Recommendation Options

Please note: These are NOT where you select which pages Site Optimization appears on. That can be found in the previous step.

  • Input High Value and goal pages - list pages you consider highly valuable or those tied to conversion goals
  • Input blacklist pages - list pages or directories you do not want included as recommended content; typically this includes items such as career and foreign language pages
  • Make sure to click Save and Continue



4. Define the Preview Options 


  • Customize Colors and Fonts
    • Select the Background window color, Font, and Font color to be used from the available options - Hex and RGBA values can be provided or manually selected from a color picker
    • Opt to show the visiting Company's logo (recommended) or not
    • Add Custom CSS if additional configuration options are desired for custom window behaviors; more information on CSS customization can be found here
    • Make sure to click Apply AND to click Save at the bottom of the Preview page

    • Choose whether or not to send Events through to Google Analytics (recommended)
    • Set a custom Google Analytics Tracker Name if multiple properties are on your website
    • Opt to have the recommended content window open or closed by default
    • Change the text displayed in the opened window
    • Choose to force http when https is unavailable
    • Select whether or not to show the visiting company's name in the open window
    • Change the text displayed in the closed window
    • Set a delayed load for the window 
    • Set a fade in transition for the window
    • Add a ripple animation to the window load
    • Choose whether to hide the window until the visitor begins to scroll through the page
    • Opt to include an indicator arrow next to the recommended content
    • Make sure to click Apply AND to click Save at the bottom of the Preview page 


  • Edit recommendations
    • Review the full list of all possible recommendations that will be made in the Site Optimization window to ensure that the links are working and relevant
    • Blacklist any links that should be excluded by copying the url or directory name and creating a new blacklist rule in the Recommendation Options section
    • Edit any items to change Page Titles and select alternate Image URLs (Make sure to Save within the Edit window)
    • Use the Back to Preview button at the top of the page to go back to the main Preview page AND click Save at the bottom of the Preview page



5. Test the configuration in the Preview Section

  • Test the Site Optimization window behavior by interacting with it in the Preview pane
  • Ensure the window works on other site pages by changing the URL to Preview
  • Validate that the recommendations are dynamic by opting to Simulate traffic from one of these Companies
  • Make any configuration changes needed based on testing results



6. Save & Publish 

  • When ready to deploy to the live site, click the Save & Publish button at the bottom of the Preview section


  • Site Optimization will then go live, usually within moments!
  • Once deployed, a confirmation message will appear at the top of the Preview section
  • Removing the deployment is as easy as clicking the Unpublish button in this window
