Demandbase Alpha and Beta Release Process

  • Updated

Demandbase is replacing our Early Adopter Program (EAP) with a new alpha and beta product release process. This new process will help us release and iterate on products more quickly while getting feedback from real usage by our customers. A brief overview of the new process is provided below.

Alpha Releases

Alpha releases allow Demandbase to identify and rectify less-than-ideal user experiences, insufficient functionality, and technical limitations.

Key details for alpha releases:

  • Each alpha release starts with internal teams at Demandbase using and testing the products or features. Being customer zero for these releases ensures that we identify issues early.
  • Alpha releases may be expanded to companies who represent a broad cross-section of our customers. The companies will include larger and emerging growth companies who collectively encompass the use cases of the product or feature.
  • Similar to our previous EAP process, Customer Success Managers (CSMs) will work with their customers to participate in alpha releases.
  • All alpha releases have success criteria defined by Demandbase that must be met before moving to a beta release.
  • Products or features in alpha releases will be labeled as alpha in Demandbase One.
  • Products or features in alpha releases are under active development. They are subject to greater risk of outages and issues and are not subject to our standard Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Beta Releases

Alpha releases graduate to beta releases after Demandbase validates with our customers that it exceeds our expectation for a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and doesn’t have any critical issues.

Key details for beta releases:

  • Products or features in beta releases are considered production-ready software that we want to iterate on alongside our customers. There may still be non-critical bugs, but generally speaking we think of beta as delivering meaningful value for our customers.
  • Beta releases can have an optional closed beta phase where we make them available to a limited number of customers. This allows us to iterate and take feedback in a more controlled manner.
  • Products or features in the closed beta phase are under active development. They are subject to greater risk of outages and issues and are not subject to our standard SLAs.
  • Beta releases in the closed beta phase will move to an open beta phase and made available to all customers.
  • All beta releases have success criteria defined by Demandbase.
  • Products or features in beta releases will be labeled as beta in Demandbase One.
  • Documentation for beta releases in the open beta phase will be available in the Demandbase Help Center.
  • Support will be available according to existing SLAs for beta releases in the open beta phase.
